The latest webinar taken from the Society of Cosmetic Chemists South Africa (Coschem) 2-year cosmetic science certificate course is Introduction to Fragrance, presented by current Coschem President Johrinda Nel.

Johrinda will include an overview on the classes of raw materials used in perfumery with a focus on Aroma Yielding Materials. She will also take us through the different extraction methods currently in the market. An overview will be given on the different formulation types and their intricacies as used in fragrance production and address the general consumer queries regarding perfume and its use.

BIOGRAPHY
Johrinda Nel is currently Sales and Marketing Manager at Vantage Speciality Chemicals South Africa and is the 2024 Coschem President. She holds a Bsc Degree in Biochemistry and Human Physiology, which she obtained from the University of Johannesburg in South Africa. She completed her Cosmetic Science Diploma in 2015 and has been an active Coschem member since. She is a past member of the Education Committee and currently chairs the Morning Seminar Committee. She is also currently giving the Introduction to Fragrance lecture for the Coschem Cosmetic Science Course. Johrinda began her career as a QC Lab technician in the paint industry. Thereafter she joined the cosmetic industry as a Sales and Marketing assistant at a colour cosmetics manufacturer, which sparked her interest in this industry. She has been actively involved in the Cosmetic Industry with a focus on raw material distribution for the past 10 years.
