BIOGRAPHY
Carolina Catarino is a Bioprocess Engineer and Biotechnologist, holding a Master’s in Clinical Analysis from the University of São Paulo and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (USA). Currently serving as Principal Scientist at Grupo Boticário, where she leads the Alternative Methods Laboratory and the Preclinical Evaluation Team. Carolina’s work is at the forefront of innovation in 3D bioprinting, specializing in the development of reconstructed skin models and the application of alternative methods for the safety assessment and preclinical efficacy testing of products. She is also deeply involved in outreach initiatives, advocating for the adoption of non-animal testing approaches within the cosmetic industry.
