Bulgaria – two Lester Conrad Educational Seminars for 2022
The Bulgarian Association of Cosmetologists (BAC) is organizing two Lester Conrad Educational Seminars in 2022 having won the 2019 IFSCC Lester Conrad Educational Prize.
The first seminar took place together with the General Assembly of BAC from 13-14 May. The lecturers in this seminar presented the main activities of the Department ‘Formulation, characterization and safety assessment of plant based products’ in the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy of Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, and the Center of Competence ‘Sustainable utilization of bio resources and waste of medicinal and aromatic plants for innovative bioactive products’, project BG05M20P001-1.002-0012, Operational Program ‘Science and Education for Smart Growth’ 2014–2020, cofinanced by EU through the European Structural and Investment Funds. Prof Ivayla Pancheva presented ‘Antibacterial effect of essential oils’, Dr Ivan Lesov presented ‘Formation of micro and nanoemulsions from triglycerides and essential oils. Novel techniques for self-structuring of emulsions via phase transitions’, and Dr Svetoslav Anachkov presented ‘Micellar solutions in cosmetics: Methods to characterize their structure and rheology’. More than 40 participants attended, including 12 students from the Master degree program Cosmetic Science and Home Care Formulations of Sofia University St Kliment Ohridski, Bulgaria.
The second seminar for 2022 will take place a few days after the 32nd IFSCC Congress in London, from 25-26 September in the beautiful town of Hisarya in between Roman remains and healing mineral water springs. BAC members will be very proud to welcome the Chair of the IFSCC Education Committee IFSCC Perry Romanowski as well as Prof Christine Lafforgue, past Présidente of the Société Française de Cosmétologie. The third esteemed lecturer of the seminar will be Prof Ivan Murgov, a pioneer of microbiome products in Bulgaria.
