SCCJ implements operational reforms

05/30/2023

The Society of Cosmetic Chemists of Japan (SCCJ) is promoting operational reforms for its future entitled Vision 2025. The aim is to be an academic organization that “consolidates its position as a global leader in technology by enhancing its academic activities and raising the level of its scientists, and contributes to sustainable development of the industry“. As part of this, the Society has decided to consolidate the SCCJ Research Forums, which had been held twice a year, to once a year, and establish a new academic conference aiming to improve cosmetic technologies at a higher level. The sub‐theme – ‘Variety of cosmetic technologies that weave the future’ – contains the desire for each and every one of us scientists to weave together a wider variety of technologies toward the future. This includes conventional cosmetic technologies such as interface science and dermatology, as well as a wider range of technologies that incorporate digital technologies and sustainability research that have been flourishing in recent years.

The first SCCJ Congress will be held from 5-7 December 2023 at Omiya Sonic City Hall, Saitama. The program (currently tentative) will comprise general research presentations (oral/poster), special speech, keynote speech, IFSCC domestic debriefings, company exhibitions etc.

Special speech:

  • Dr Koichi Tanaka, Executive Research Fellow, Shimadzu Corporation
Deployment of mass spectrometry in a variety of fields, including cosmetics

Keynote speeches:

  • Prof Koichi Asakura, Keio University Faculty of Science and Technology
Unlocking the Wonders of Life to Create New Cosmetic Technologies
