COSCHEM bids farewell to Norman Sanan

10/15/2021

It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the passing of Norman Sanan. Norman was a visionary who was very passionate about our industry. Although a pharmacist by trade, he really wanted the cosmetic industry to become more professional. To this end Norman, with the help of a few key people in the industry, founded the Society of Cosmetic Chemists South Africa. Very soon thereafter he realised the need for the industry to educate its members and the short course in Cosmetic Science was introduced. Norman was a loyal and dedicated member of Coschem and was always present at gala dinners and student prize giving evenings.

Norman was President of the South African Society from 1977-1980 and because of his vision for education the Society named the prestigious Project prize as the Norman Sanan award. This was done as a tribute to his commitment to education which we were privileged to have him award at the prize giving ceremony.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they celebrate his life.
