BIOGRAPHIES

Perry Romanowski joined the IFSCC Praesidium in 2019 after years of service with the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, including a stint as President. He is owner of ChemistsCorner.com, an online educational company devoted to educating scientists around the world about cosmetic chemistry. Thousands around the world have taken his online classes and more have watched his webinars. He brings his extensive expertise to his role as IFSCC Chair of Education. Perry graduated from DePaul University in Chicago, IL (USA) with a degree in chemistry and began his cosmetic chemistry career at Alberto Culver. He lives in Chicago with his wife and cats.

Valerie George is a cosmetic chemist, science communicator, educator, leader and avid proponent of transparency in the beauty industry. She most recently founded Simply Formulas, an R&D lab focused on the latest hair care and hair color innovations. She previously worked as Executive Vice President of Paul Mitchell, a leading salon professional brand based in Los Angeles, CA. She is a two-time past chair of the California Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, past chair of the Committee on Scientific Affairs for the National Society of Cosmetic Chemists, and is a recipient of the Chapter Merit Award for her services to the Society. Valerie is the co-host of The Beauty Brains podcast and can be found on Instagram at @cosmetic_chemist

Marisa Plescia is an experienced cosmetic chemist with extensive expertise and education, having received degrees and completed coursework in both the USA and Europe. She has earned four graduate degrees in Cosmetic and Fragrance Science, Business, and STEM education, graduating from both the University of Cincinnati Cosmetic Science program and ISIPCA in France. Since 2017, Marisa has worked at Bell International Laboratories in Eagan, MN and is the Senior Product Innovation Chemist. A dedicated member and volunteer in the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, she was the Twin Cities SCC Chair (2020-2022), the NextGen Committee Chair (2020), and is currently the VP Elect of the Board of Directors for the SCC. Marisa has written articles on cosmetic chemistry as seen in trade publications, and has been quoted and featured in numerous magazines and newspapers, including in the Washington Post and New York Times. Marisa is extremely passionate about cosmetic chemistry and living her childhood dream of a career as a cosmetic chemist.
